History in Rome Preview

First Stop: Rome!

Hello Friends!

With just under two weeks left until I leave for my trip (crazy!!), I wanted to share a sneak peak of what is in the works for my first month abroad!

In April, I will be living in Rome and brushing up on my Roman History. During my time, I will be a part of the History in Rome Sojrn Chapter where I will be able to connect with other fellow travelers! We will have access to a local host who will be showing us around the area and recommending places to visit. She has already curated a list of local cafes, restaurants, shops, and sights to visit!

Each week there are activities planned around our theme. These activities include walking tours, a cooking class, visits to Historical sites, and more. We can sign up for these based on our availability around our work schedules. Many of them are happening in the morning (Italian time) which means it will be about 3am back home. Although I will surely be adjusting to the time zone for a bit, mornings are a great time to explore! It is going to feel so surreal walking around and literally being surrounded by history.

We also have the option to add on activities (for an additional cost) like a day trip to Pompei, food tour, Vespa tour, Mosaic Workshop, Homemade Pasta Class, and more! For those who know me well, they know how much I LOVE food. I am definitely considering the food tour! The other activities that peaked my interest are attending a football match and taking a street art/graffiti tour. I have a wide range of interests, so I love that there are different types of activities available.

I will continue to share my experiences doing these group activities, as well as any solo explorations I made in addition to these planned adventures!

Some sites I want to make sure to see are the Coliseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, and Trastevere.

                                                         Trastevere, Rome

Any other things I should make sure to add to my list?

I would love to hear suggestions!

I'll be sharing more details soon on my prep for this trip including learning the language, researching the culture, and packing.

Till next time,

- JP
